Grade 5 & 6 (Girls)
Math Quiz was conducted on January12th. After the preliminary rounds which were conducted in the class, 2 students were shortlisted from each house for an inter-house competition. It helped students demonstrate their understanding of concepts and its application in real life.
Grade 5 & 6 (Boys)
Sports Meet was conducted on January 7th. This activity helped students to develop physical talents to their maximum potential. Participants of the four houses were engaged in competitive activities while promoting sound health, safety and physical fitness. It was also an opportunity for them to display their qualities of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Math Olympiad was conducted on January 9th. The objective of this mental math test was to foster an interest in math and improve their mathematical skills.
Thematic Assembly titled ‘Republic Day’ was held on January 19th. This assembly reminded students when India’s constitution came into force and also completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent republic. Skit and patriotic song were included.
Collage Making with the theme titled ‘the warm up’ was organised on January 22nd. This in-class activity for students aimed for collaborative work and team spirit. It generated awareness for a healthy mind and body. It also helped them understand the importance of sports and regular exercise.
Grade 10 (Girls)
Model Exam was conducted from January 6th till January 16th.
Grade 12 (Girls)
CBSE Board Practical Exams were conducted from January 14th till 28th and Second Model Exam scheduled in this month was also completed.
Quran Recitation was held on January 20th for grade 5 & 6 boys and on January 28th for grade 5 & 6 girls. Students had the opportunity to showcase their talents and they made improvements in various areas of this recitation. They were evaluated on the basis of Tajweed (pronunciation), voice modulation and rhythm. It also helped Islamic teachers to select the talented students to take part in inter-school competitions.
Islamic Quiz was conducted on January 21st for grade 5 & 6 boys and on January 28th for grade 7 & 8 boys / girls. During this competition, Islamic students exhibited their talents in the knowledge of Islam on various topics. It aimed to improve their knowledge on Islamic education. It also helped Islamic teachers to select the talented students to take part in inter-school competitions.
Islamic Nasheed was held on January 28th for grade 5 & 6 boys. Students took part in the competition to showcase their talent. It provided them the chance to improve their skills in poem recitation. It also helped Islamic teachers to select the talented students to take part in inter-school competitions.
Elocution Competition was conducted January 30th for grade 5 & 6 boys. During this competition, students performed to the best of their abilities. It was an opportunity for them to speak in-front of an audience and that boosted their morale. They were judged on the basis of their confidence level, vocabulary, content and more. It also helped Islamic teachers to select the talented students to take part in inter-school competitions.
IHS MUN ’20 (Indian High School Model United Nations Conference) was held on January 23rd & 24th. This intra school conference helped students to develop and experience important social skills. It provided an interactive educational experience that teaches in an interesting and enjoyable way about the United Nations. It also informed global citizens who not only understand the decisions their nation makes but also how those changes effect politics nationally, regionally and globally. More than 250 students participated.
Republic Day was celebrated on January 26th. Students displayed their respect for the country through various dance and music programs. It was both delightful and a proud moment to see them display the rich culture of India & other countries participating in the Expo 2020. It also aimed to instill values of patriotism and enhance the understanding of the rich cultural diversity of the country.
Math Workshop of the University of Waterloo (Canada) was conducted on January 19th for grade 11 students Science / Commerce with Maths. During this workshop, students were challenge to think critically and creatively using Mathematics & common problem solving approaches.
Local Colleges Fair was held on January 24th for grades 10 to 12 at IIS, DSO. The purpose was to meet UAE university admission officers. Students and parents were informed about their programs offer, admission requirements, application process, fee structure & deadline of application.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Growing Up Gracefully’ was held on January 12th for grade 5 boys. Through this talk, students were educated about the various coping strategies with the physiological and psychological changes in the process of growing up.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘Effective Communication’ was held on January 19th for grade 6 boys. The purpose was to educate students about the different ways of communicating and learn ways to communicate efficiently.
A Student Talk on the topic ‘College Readiness (Part II)’ was conducted in the month of January for grade 11. This talk aimed to help students to be better prepared for the procedure of college admissions.
