IHS selected to be part of the UAE Astronaut Programme - Science in Space

April 30, 2019

As part of the UAE Astronaut Programme, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre will be collaborating with NanoRacks in launching scientific research experiments from 15 schools to the ISS to be carried out by the UAE’s first astronaut HAZZAA ALMANSOORI. Parallel experiments will also be carried out by the chosen schools back on the ground, and will then be analysed to build a basis of comparison between the two environments.

IHS got selected based on the school’s role in promoting STEM/Space Education and the science potential of the proposed experiments by the team. IHS was the only Non-Arabic speaking school that had participated in the first workshop held on 28th April, 2019.

IHS Students participated in a QA session with the two Emirati Astronauts HAZZAA ALMANSOORI and SULTAN ALNEYADI. They also performed experiments and shared information with teams from other participating schools.
